Fish farming
La pisciculture est l'élevage de poissons, en eaux douces, saumâtres ou salées. C’est une des branches de l'aquaculture. L'un des premiers traité de pisciculture fut écrit par Fan Li en 473 av. J.-C.1. Elle était également pratiquée à Hawaï avant l'arrivée des explorateurs européens2. Il existe deux familles principales de pisciculture : La production en étang, avec un bassin en terre, dans lequel les poissons se nourrissent complètement ou partiellement à partir de la production biologique du milieu. La production intensive en bassin artificiel ou cages, dans lesquels les poissons sont exclusivement nourris avec des aliments fournis par le pisciculteur. La majorité du poisson consommé dans le monde provient de l'élevage3, et 90 % du poisson d'élevage est produit en Asie. Les espèces les plus élevées sont les carpes, suivies du tilapia, des salmonidés et des siluriformes. La production piscicole mondiale était de 50 millions de tonnes en 20144.
Pig farming
Pig farming is a popular field of activity in Cameroon. This sector is profitable, generates activity for unemployed young people, reduces poverty and provides animal protein to the population.
Poultry farming
Aviculture concerne l'élevage d'oiseaux dans le but d'en tirer une production pour l'homme. Elle fournit plusieurs produits : Viande : il s'agit d'animaux élevés pour être abattus et consommés. Cet élevage inclut la production de volailles à griller entières, de morceaux découpés, de plats cuisinés, de foies gras ou de graisse. Œufs : ils sont le plus souvent issus de poules, les œufs d'autres animaux peuvent être aussi consommés. L'élevage moderne ne concerne guère que les œufs de poule et accessoirement de caille. Ses œufs peuvent être vendus tels quels aux consommateurs ou préparés par l'industrie agroalimentaire dans les casseries d'œufs. Plumes : l'élévage pour la plumasserie s'est surtout développé au xixe siècle. Les plumes d'autruche ont été utilisées pour la décoration et pour la fabrication de plumeaux ; autrefois florissant, l'élevage d'oies pour la fourniture de duvet est aujourd'hui marginal bien qu'en augmentation. Les produits textiles ont remplacé cette production qui fournissait un remplissage très isotherme aux édredons et oreillers. Aujourd'hui, les plumes sont principalement des déchets d'abattoir réduites en farines. Fiente : il s'agit d'un engrais naturel intéressant. Il doit être utilisé avec parcimonie, car il peut brûler les plantes. Autrefois, les pigeonniers fleurissaient dans les vignobles, car la colombine, la fiente de pigeon, était un excellent engrais pour la vigne. À Gaillac, elle était la seule autorisée pour fumer les vignes. Les lisiers de volaille peuvent également causer des problèmes environnementaux par leur abondance. Repeuplement cynégétique : cet élevage est destiné à fournir des oiseaux, hybrides souvent, aux sociétés de chasse pour servir de gibier (faisans, perdrix, canards, etc.).
Heliciculture

Beekeeping

Cuniculture
Cuniculture (or cuniculiculture) is the breeding of domestic rabbits. It developed from the Middle Ages in Europe, but only really took off in the world recently. Its main object is the production of meat, and sometimes that of hair (angora rabbits) or fur, and even the supply of laboratory animals for their experiments. It is also a leisure breeding for some, who present their purebred animals at fairs and exhibitions. Recently, the rabbit has also been raised as a pet. The methods of breeding rabbits are varied. Formerly bred in wildcats, it is now found in different types of breeding. Traditional family farms are often geared towards self-consumption, and have low-intensity practices. For their part, industrial farms (99% of rabbits raised in Europe) raise rabbits in cages with wire floors, practice band management and artificial insemination, and have a very short production cycle which allows them to be very productive.

Our projects
In its policy of strengthening self-sufficiency and food security, the Cameroonian government spares no effort. Thus, for some time, through its secular arm the Agricultural Research Institute for Development (IRAD), a hybrid variety, called Tenera, has been developed, capable of boosting the production of palm oil (valued by households and processing industries) in Cameroon. According to researchers at the institute headed by Dr. Noé Woin, Tenera is a hybrid variety obtained from crossing Dura (female parent) and Pisifera (male parent). This variety is reputed to have high yield potential (4.5 tonnes of palm oil per ha per year), tolerant to the crop disease called Fusarium wilt. Tenera, which has a growth of 25 to 36 cm per year, has an operating life of 25 to 30 years. With an unsaturated fatty acid content of 55.05%, it comes into production from 2.5 to 3 years.
